The Marken Saga V2

I'm sure you're all very familiar with The Marken Saga, version 0.1.9. So familiar in fact, that I'm sure many of you have even gotten bored of it. Yes, I admit, it was my bad to stop in the middle of everything there. 


Well, then that would mean that I'm about to get even worse! Because, The Marken Saga is going to undergo a massive revamp under a set of new plans for it, and the 0.1.x line will be discontinued as a result.


Now, now, hold the furious uproar! I'm not done yet! Since I know all of you are fans of the current line and do not wish to lose it just like that, the you should know, no! I am not going to discard it just like that. You'll need to understand more about the new set of plans I mentioned above before you form any conclusions. I'll come to that in due time. In the meantime, about to fate of the 0.1.x line. It is not going to go out just like that of course. Finally, after long months of waiting, version 1 will be released. It's basically closure for all of you for the current line. What it offers is mainly seriously major balancing. Okay, I'll be honest. ALL it offers is the balancing. There are also minor changes actually, but not many that you'll notice. It will stay with only scenarios 1 through 7.

Oh yes, a note: Version 1 might be a final release, but then, it is more of meant for serious fans of The Marken Saga who regard it as more than just another campaign. Although I mentioned 'serious rebalancing' above, *psst!* I didn't really mean it. Version 1 aims to allow the essence of the original Marken Saga to be experienced in a respectable release.

The reason behind this is that all the later scenarios have not been finalized yet, and I have decided not to spend the effort on including them into Version 1. That would just delay the release. Instead, their purpose lies in the upcoming The Marken Saga, Version 2, basically a remake of the highly successful previous release, The Marken Saga, which netted over 30 downloads over 9 different versions.


What you can expect in The Marken Saga Version 2:


- Near complete storyline revamp, in order to make it more clean and flowing with long term events in mind. Probable changes include the introduction of a new female character, and the replacement/removal of Yran the white mage.


- Major revamp of campaign difficulties, a 'normal,' meaning easy, mode for new players to Wesnoth, in which the Marken Saga will be like a tutorial, only much better than the actual tutorial, a 'classic' mode which is remiscient of Version 1 (Think scenarios like 'The Blockade' and 'The CM in the Caves') and a 'default' version which I recommend, which will be perfect for anyone from a novice to the veterans.


- And lastly, what you all want, the new scenarios! I'm sorry, but there will be no support for Version 1. You'll have to come here for the continued experience. Don't worry, you won't feel much of a difference except for the storyline.
